Screw is an experimental music project initiated by Alexandra Mocan and Cezar Cîmpeanu, both living in Cluj-Napoca. Based on live improvisation, their aim is to investigate the unlimited potential of sound by screwing up various recorded or synthesized samples and freaking them out with software or hardware tools. With different backgrounds from visual art to architecture, and studies in classical guitar, they started this journey in electronic music in 2019. While Alexandra is usually playing intuitively and likes to mash her own recordings or to steal and then twist various samples, Cezar is synthetizing and resampling sounds, both working together by listening and anticipating each ones next move. Cezar also has a solo project called Zaar, oriented more towards nighttime electronic dance music.
